Intro: Close-up Photography. (Hour 2 Peterborough) » Make sure your camera can be positioned at any height. (With low angle tripod and bean bags) » Make sure you can comfortably view your subject. (Neck!) » Make sure you have Depth-of-Field preview. » Be opportunistic. Use nature's menu if artistically possible. ("Dress up" technique) In your images, look for- / try to get: » Simplicity (Sel. Focus!) » Absence of distractions (Sel. Focus!) » Interesting lighting. (Mirror/umbrella or Spotlights) » Colour Harmony (Sel. Focus!) » Visual order in general Selective focus: shoot a subject close to the lens with a long and fast (large max. aperture) lens, with aperture wide open. Selective lighting: natural, spotlight, or white umbrella/mirror combination.
