Peter, by Sue Gibbs

Peter Rembrandt Van Rhijn was born and raised in Holland. In 1970, following in his brother's foot steps, he emigrated to Canada. The natural beauty of this country played a significant role in this decision.

Peter has always regarded Nature as the ultimate and most inspirational art teacher.

Peter Van Rhijn has two children, Robert (17) and Vanessa (16). He lives in Toronto, Ontario. Peter and his wife, Sue Gibbs, enjoy running, rollerblading, hiking and skiing.

Photography

In 1985, Peter switched to 6x7 (21/4" X 23/4"), which improved the marketability of his images and brought him closer to realizing his dream of a large screen audiovisual presentation.

In 1992 he purchased three Goetschmann 67 AV projectors, industial caliber workhorses, capable of 6000 lumen light output

"Strength in Beauty", Peter's first 6x7 format show, was completed in 1994. It received a standing ovation at the first convention of the North American Nature Photography Association, in January 1995, Fort Myers, Florida.

"Blue Sapphire" premiered September 3rd, 1999 at the PSA International Convention, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It was Peter's first show to feature originally composed music.

Seminars, Stock, Books

Early on in his photographic career, Peter started giving AV presentations along with talks and seminars for Camera Clubs and various conventions. In 1981, U.S. based photo stock agency ‘SuperStock’ invited Van Rhijn to join them as a stock photographer.

Beside his world wide stock sales, Van Rhijn’s images have been published in five environmental books as noted below.

Peter's presentations are eligible for sponsorship from Fujifilm U.S.A and Fujifilm Canada. Peter is a member of the Fujifilm U.S.A. 'Talent Team', and a lifetime honorary member of the Mississauga Camera Club and the Don Mills Camera Club.

In April 2000 the New England Camera Club Council elected Peter to the honor of "Associate Member" (ANEC) of the New England Camera Club Council in recognition of his regular contributions to the annual NECCC convention in Amherst, Massachusetts with his large screen presentations.
